The journey behind the Digital Depth Economy™ research initiative

Lonelle Madsen

Principal Investigator, Digital Depth Economy™ research initiative

Lonelle Madsen is the founder and principal investigator of the Digital Depth Economy Research Initiative, the first occupational health infrastructure for digital entrepreneurs.

With 17 years in somatic therapy, 500+ therapeutic relationships, and nearly a decade navigating digital entrepreneurship's hidden harms, she discovered what nobody else is studying: the intergenerational crisis of platform dependency.

Her research bridges clinical neurobiology and digital business, developing the 6Core Devastations™ framework to diagnose, prevent, and rehabilitate platform dependency across the entire lifespan. She's not a business coach—she's an occupational health architect building the systems that should have existed all along.

Research Credentials

  • 9-Year Longitudinal Study

Systematic observation and documentation of patterns among deep-thinking entrepreneurs in digital business environments.

  • Systematic Investigation

Structured investigation of observed patterns, including literature review, preliminary interviews, and conceptual framework development.

  • Preliminary Framework Development

Development of proprietary diagnostic and strategic frameworks including 6Core Devastations™, Stockholm64™ pattern recognition system, and Digital Positioning System (DPS)™."

  • Professional Development

Ongoing professional development in research methodology, personality psychology, and neurobiology to support rigorous investigation.

My journey from subject to researcher has been driven by a simple question: Why do deep-thinking entrepreneurs struggle so profoundly in digital business environments that seem to work well for others? This question led me from personal experience to systematic investigation, and ultimately to the development of the Digital Depth Economy research initiative.v

Research Journey

From personal experience to systematic investigation

Personal Experience (2016-2024)

The seeds of this research were planted during Lonelle's personal experience as a deep-thinking entrepreneur navigating digital business environments. Despite following conventional advice and implementing recommended strategies, she encountered persistent challenges that seemed to stem from a fundamental mismatch between her cognitive processing style and the dominant paradigms of digital business.

This experience led to an initial hypothesis: that certain neurobiological traits common among deep-thinking entrepreneurs might create a fundamental mismatch with conventional digital business environments, contributing to specific challenges in their entrepreneurial journey.

Initial Observation (2022-2024)

To test this hypothesis, Lonelle began a period of structured observation, documenting patterns among deep-thinking entrepreneurs in digital business environments. This included:

  • Systematic observation of common challenges and coping strategies

  • Documentation of patterns across different industries and business models

  • Preliminary literature review in relevant fields

  • Informal interviews with other deep-thinking entrepreneurs

This initial observation period confirmed that the patterns observed in her personal experience were not isolated incidents but appeared to be shared by a significant subset of entrepreneurs with similar cognitive processing styles.

Systematic Investigation (Jan. 2025 - April 2025)

Building on the patterns identified during the observation period, Lonelle undertook a more systematic investigation, including:

  • Comprehensive literature review across multiple disciplines

  • Structured interviews with deep-thinking entrepreneurs

  • Consultation with experts in personality psychology and neurobiology

  • Development of preliminary conceptual frameworks

This investigation led to the development of the Digital Mismatch concept as a framework for understanding the neurobiological disconnect between deep-thinking entrepreneurs and conventional digital business environments.

Preliminary Framework Development (May 2025 - July 2025)

Her research revealed a critical occupational health gap: deep-thinking entrepreneurs face a measurable, systematic neurobiological mismatch when building on conventional digital platforms. This discovery led to a comprehensive diagnostic and intervention infrastructure:

The Foundation: Digital Mismatch™

A clinically-grounded concept describing the neurobiological disconnect between how deep-thinking entrepreneurs think and feel, and how extractive digital platforms are designed to operate. This framework repositions platform dependency from "personal failure" to "occupational injury."

The Diagnostic System: 6Core Devastations™

Six measurable dimensions of occupational harm that manifest across the entire entrepreneurial lifespan—Identity Erosion, Feedback Famine, Energy Bankruptcy, Ethical Tech Tension, Legacy Anxiety, and Neurological Strategy Misalignment. These aren't personality flaws; they're predictable outcomes of neurobiological mismatch.

The Protection Mechanisms:

  • Stockholm64™: A pattern recognition system that identifies how digital platforms engineer dependency through intermittent rewards, attention hijacking, and psychological manipulation.

  • Digital Positioning System (DPS)™: A strategic framework enabling depth-oriented entrepreneurs to build thriving businesses without conforming to surface-level algorithms or extractive business models.

  • Digital Depth Pro Suite: Clinical-grade diagnostic and assessment tools that measure harm across multiple axes—neurological, economic, relational, and occupational—replacing guesswork with precision.

The result: occupational health infrastructure for digital entrepreneurs, designed and tested to prevent collapse before it happens, diagnose harm when it exists, and rehabilitate entrepreneurs across all life stages.

Research Initiative Launch (2025-Present)

Recognizing the need for more rigorous validation of these preliminary frameworks, Lonelle launched the Digital Depth Economy research initiative to:

  • Conduct formal validation studies of the preliminary frameworks

  • Collaborate with academic and professional partners

  • Develop evidence-based resources for practitioners and entrepreneurs

  • Contribute to the academic literature on personality psychology and digital business mental health

The initiative is currently in the pre-validation phase, seeking collaboration with professional partners to validate and refine the preliminary frameworks.

Vision & Mission

The guiding principles of the Digital Depth Economy and research initiative

Vision

A digital economy where platform dependency is measured like occupational harm, prevented before it calcifies, diagnosed with clinical precision, and rehabilitated across the entire lifespan—regardless of age, neurobiology, or generation.

MISSION

We advance digital occupational health by building clinical-grade diagnostic systems, evidence-based intervention protocols, and prevention infrastructure that protect deep-thinking digital entrepreneurs from platform dependency across prevention, intervention, and rehabilitation stages.

Core Values

Evidence Over Narrative

We measure occupational harm with clinical precision, cite primary sources, and refuse to fill research gaps with speculation. Truth is non-negotiable.

Depth Over Spectacle

We reject hype, viral metrics, and performative solutions. Substance—research-backed, systemic, real—is our only currency.

Authenticity Over Performance

We honor how deep-thinking entrepreneurs actually work. We don't ask you to perform for algorithms or abandon your neurobiology to fit extractive systems.

Clinical Rigor Over Comfort

We diagnose uncomfortable truths about platform dependency and occupational harm. We're not here to make you feel better—we're here to make you safer.

Intergenerational Protection

We serve all ages and life stages—from youth prevention through adult rehabilitation. Harm doesn't care about your birthday; neither do we. (At least in the clinical sense)

Neurobiology as Design Principle

We recognize ADHD, autism, sensitivity, and deep-thinking as occupational realities, not deficits. Our frameworks honor how your brain actually works.

Equity in Leadership

Deep-thinking, neurodivergent, and affected communities lead this work. We don't speak for you; we support you speaking.

Occupational Health as Rights

Platform-dependent work deserves the same occupational health standards as construction, healthcare, and manufacturing. Safety is non-negotiable.

Nervous System Sovereignty

Your mental health and economic security belong to you, not the platforms extracting your data and attention. We protect both.

Sacred Pragmatism

We balance soul-level values with rigorous systems thinking. You can build authentically and sustainably—these aren't opposing forces.

Contribute to the Research

Your expertise and experience can help advance our understanding of the Digital Mismatch phenomenon and develop more effective approaches for deep-thinking entrepreneurs.
